ITO Replacement

app itoEN

ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) is the most common solid used for making transparent conductive films for produce :

  • Photovoltaic cells
  • OLEDs
  • Flexible screens
  • Sensors and touch screens

It has both properties needed for these industries conductivity and transparency.

However, some threats appear to the ITO.

First, the ITO is an expensive material. The price - US$ 800 / kg - will ultimately become an obstacle to R&D in case of industrialization, the cost will becomes a major obstacle.

Second, Indium is a nonrenewable resource. The extraction of this resource is now performed on protected areas: for example, it is considered "rare earth" by the Chinese government. It intends to reserve indium to its industry. This political and economic decision by the largest producer of indium (60% of world production) threatens the industry related to the ITO.

Poly-Ink offers a range of products with the properties of conductivity and transparency to advantageously replace ITO :

  • More economical
  • Improved processability
  • Better resistance to bending
  • No geopolitical constraint
